Safran adds to Health Monitoring service

January 30, 2020  By Helicopters Staff

Two years after launching the Health Monitoring service that enables customers to track their engines’ health indicator, Safran Helicopter has added new developments to the service, including daily health indicators and monthly recommendations; full automation of the engine performance trend follow up; and a new online interface.

During Heli-Expo, Air Center Helicopters headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, was announced as the first North American operator to subscribe to the new Premium Health Monitoring service.

Safran Helicopter Engines uses predictive analyses and preventive maintenance to preserve the customers’ engines and optimize the operations of its customers.

The service is based on more than 60 engine parameters that are converted into indicators through algorithms. With the knowledge of the proximity-based Safran experts, the recommendations are tailored to the customers’ operational configuration, such as missions, and environment. Each Health Monitoring report also leverages data from worldwide fleet experience. Today, Health Monitoring covers 3,200 engines operated by 500 customers.

Health Monitoring is available for Support By the Hour (SBH) customers in its Premium version. SBH now proposes two digital solutions: Health Monitoring and Expert Link (real-time visual assistance). Safran explains SBH is now digital and fully linked to cost control, engine protection and optimized technical support. Health Monitoring, Expert Link and SBH are services that are part of the EngineLife range, Safran solutions for helicopter engines.
